Keeping Up With Resolutions: July

While I may have been absent from the blog this month.....resolution wise I ROCKED! Best yet? Maybe so.

Read a book every month:
SUCCESS! I read People Are Unappealing (even me) by Sara Barron.
It was a quick easy read AND I finished it half-way through the month. I can probably credit the lack of Internet in my hotel and not my wicked intense willpower for this completion of a resolution.

Learn a new art form/technique:
"C+" I did some lack luster research in preparation for learning it.....in August I will have a great deal of free time so it will be my "make it or break it" month for this one.

If I must eat pizza, only one a month:
ATTAINED IT!!!! I went to Ancora with a friend right before I left for LA and THAT WAS IT! I completely forgot about pizza. I also forgot about things like "sleep" but whatever, I reached this goal (which is the hardest for me) and I'm proud.

Eat more leafy greens:
"B-"....I feel like I could have done better. Not sure why.....

Cook/bake 2-3 new recipes a month:
VICTORY!!!! I came close to failing at this one but LAST NIGHT I had a major cooking fest.
I made Baked Brussel Sprouts (which is great for people who hate brussel sprouts but terrible for those who do...I love them, John hates them) and Lemony Asparagus with Pine Nuts and Parmesan.

Keep in better contact with my Mother's friends:
CHECK!!! I mailed her a postcard from Santa Barbara

Travel to at least 2-3 new (to me) cities in the US by the end of the year:
I went to Solvang, CA for a wonderful weekend of wine tasting!
And I went to Santa Barbara, CA for the day trip (and more wine tasting)!
I went to Pensacola, FL!!!
I knew this month would be the month where I completed this one.
I don't want to give myself to much credit as Pensacola is only 3 1/2 hours from New Orleans. Also, Santa Barbara is on the way back to LA from Solvang....soooooo.
Whatever! I finally got some traveling in this month! BOO-YAH!

Thank you July. You may be the best month yet for successes!

Have you been able to keep up with your resolutions?

Life As Of Lately

I'm baaaaaaaack!!!!
This chica is officially unemployed and is O-KAY with it (at least for 2 weeks and then I'll freak out)
1) Bike rides with the boy 2) Trying out Ancora with a bestie before leaving for LA 3) Special time with Kahlo 4) So in love with all the yogurt places popping up in NOLA lately
1) Lovin' the drive to work in Cali 2) Stumbling upon random street fairs in Venice 3) There was a double rainbow at work but I missed the photo op....so this is me grabbing onto the last moments of magic
1) Left John little love notes to open each day I was gone for work in LA. Some romantic, some funny 2) Used book shops with old friends 3) *SIGH* Record shops, mon amour!
1) Wine tasting in Solvang, CA (more post on this to come!) 2) Eating my first In-N-Out "burger" (hold the meat, please!) while on set... How very L.A. 3) The aliens are coming?
1) Last meal at work? Sushi and Sapporo. Yum! 2) Celebrating a friend's recent success of opening her own production company AND green-lighting her first feature starting next month. We're TOTALLY adults, y'all!!! 3) Drinks at High Rooftop Lounge 4) Someone else PLEASE laugh at this exit. No one seems to find it funny.
1) Ten months in the making: We made it! 2) These sneakers lasted me the whole movie. They are officially retired. 3) Where else would I go as soon as I get home from L.A.? Juan's Flying Burrito!

These last few weeks have been amazing/crazy. Heck, these last 10 months have been!
I will forever be grateful for the experience that I have had while on this project and know that I will still remember some epic moments when I'm in my 60s+.
It feels really weird knowing that it's fully over. While the movie has kicked my ass it also has forever bonded me to people. You form a unique comradely with people when you are forced to spend 16+ hours a day together for 10 months....and sometimes 6-7 day work weeks. During this movie we've had co-workers get married, get divorced, break limbs, get pregnant and unfortunately we even had someone pass away. These are HUGE moments we all shared and it's hard to not be sad when we are forced to walk away from each other.
I know I will work with some of them again....and others will just wonder what they are up to.
Some I will remain in close contact with.....others I am glad to never see again.

But I am looking forward to what the future will hold. Who knows what the next project will be that I work on. I have many things up in the air but most importantly to me I want to make sure I make time for me.....and even more so seeing my friends who have stuck by me during this major absents.

Here is to the great unknown to come!

Sorry things have been quiet around here lately.
I've been busy with work and oddly have had little contact with the Internet.
BUT next week is "supposedly" our last week of filming. I shall be in full time "fun-un-employement" mode. I have SO many things I want to do before starting my next film. Lots of traveling, spending time with friends, reading, beach timing-it up, and parties. I also can't wait to get back to blogging it all!

And I'm Off....Again

Tomorrow I head back to L.A. to finish the movie that it feels like I've been on since.....FOREVER.
Film crews are like circus freaks with commitment issues. We aren't mentally capable to stay on a show for more than 3 months. 10 months SOUNDS like a good idea (for the bank account) but we slowly lose our minds.
I am looking forward to going back to LA though. I have big plans for each and every weekend that I'm there but I'm having major problems mentally registering that I am not just going to LA for "play". I will be working hella long hours like I have been while in New Orleans.
Oh, also I haven't even begun to pack. It's likely this event won't take place until the frantic early hours tomorrow. Procrastination is like a 2nd profession.
Now I'm off to enjoy my last day in New Orleans for a month!
(and by enjoy I mean run around like a chicken with their head cut off doing errands)

TREAT YO-SELF Tuesday: July 3

I haven't done a TREAT YO-SELF Tuesday in awhile.....
Do not be confused, I have not been spending money wisely. Nay, I still pay for episodes of Bravo TV shows I miss, splurge on dresses I may only wear once, and massages.
Recently I really had a "F*CK IT! I deserve" it moment and decided to subscribe to Umba Box

Here is the concept:
"Love handmade? Join Umba Box to receive curated packages of 2-3 modern & whimsical
women's handmade products each month."

(yeah, I totally just copied and pasted instead of thinking of a original way of explaining it to y'all. Sorry. Still follow me? Eh?)

Truth be told, I'm a little nervous that this may have been a bad sleep deprived purchase.....but only time will tell. I look forward to completely forgetting about this and getting my first package to which I will pretend someone loves me enough to send me a
"whimsical" box of treats.

How did you TREAT YO-SELF this week?
